Wheel of the Year

I stumbled on this and felt it was fitting!

Shepherdstown, WV Spring Equinox 2009 Spring Equinox, one of two days of the year we have true balance! It is also the day of Ostara. Ostara, is a time of all things new as green buds and bright flowers burst through the brown earth and life is suddenly radiant around us. Baby animals are being born and eggs are being laid. It is a time of renewal of thoughts, dreams, and aspirations. An old practice was to bury a painted egg. Flowers are gathered and brought into houses, people are taking walks to appreciate the beauty of nature. I also want to make note this is where Peter Cottontail came from. NEW LIFE BEGINS :) The animals wished to please Ostara by bringing her gifts, she was apparently very hard to please! The rabbit brought her a painted egg which delighted the goddess. The rabbit then had the duty to gather eggs for the goddess on Ostara. This is were coloring eggs came from and doing easter egg hunts!
